This work, also available in a folio edition, was published in parts between June 1813 and September 1817. The plates are dated 1813, 1814 and 1817. The present copy consists of part 1 only of the quarto edition, concluding with leaf N4, the fly-title 'Explanation Of The Plates To Section II.' (p. [95]) and containing only the 14 plates of section I. BAL, Early printed books, no. 3535 and see also notes to BAL 3534 (the folio edition); Fowler Cat. 429.

Copy Notes 'Part 1' only, wanting the texts of sections III--IV, the explanation of the plates of section II, and the plates of sections II--IV. bought for £2 10s. 6d. from James Moyes on 14 January 1815 with the folio edition of Wilkins's The antiquities of Magna Graecia, 1807 (q.v.). (Spiers Box, 'Purchases through personal friends'). Inscribed in pencil with marginal notes initialled by Joseph Bonomi (Curator 1861--1876).

Binding Purchased in boards and rebound in 1919. C20th half black morocco-grained calf (?), navy blue publisher's cloth, gilt-tooled spine.
