No more published. Imprint on verso of the title-page: De l'imprimerie d'A. Dulau et Co. et L. Nardini. On Martinez Pasqualis and his disciple Louis-Claude de Saint-Martin. Fournié was a Swedenborgian and a disciple of Jakob Böhme who emigrated to London during the Revolution; he wrote on mysticism and theurgy. See Antoine Faivre, 'Un martinésiste catholique: l'abbé Pierre Fournié', Revue de l'histoire des religions 172:1 (1967), pp. 33-73 and the introduction to the 1986 reprint (Hildesheim: G. Olm). The work was reviewed in The British Critic, vol. 17 (1801): 'We entertain not the smallest doubt but that Mons. Pierre Fournié, Clerc Tonsuré, as he calls himself, is a good sort of a well meaning man; but such an incomprehensible jargon of enthusiasm and fanaticism was hardly ever put together. The Deity, Jesus Christ, Satan, and the World, are, among other absurdities, represented in the form of planets (p. 240) acting upon each other, and moving in different orbits, like Saturn, Jupiter, &c. &c.' (p. 446). There is a memorial to 'Pierre Fournié, clerc tonsuré' in St Pancras New Church, dated 1825.
