Title-plate is engraved. Apparently a reissue of the work originally issued between 1586 (the date of the approbation by Pope Sixtus V) and 1588. Four unnumbered pages with drop-head title 'Seqvvntvr Nova Statvta' have been interpolated between pp. 198 and [199] (a blank recto with engraved map in a woodcut frame on the verso), and three leaves have been added to the prelims: a plate showing Sixtus V giving a sword to Hugo de Loubenx captioned 'Decorem Et Fortitvdinem Domini', a letterpress dedication to 'Illvstrissimo Ac Reveren.mo D. Fratri Vgoni De Lovbenx' signed 'Ioannes Baptista Rondinellus', and an emblematic plate 'Ex Candido Et Propinqvo'. The remaining preliminary leaves, all but two if which are engraved, are as found in the first issue. Copy Notes Imperfect; wanting the title-plate. With the divisional title to the 52 portraits on fourteen plates, 'Effigies Magistror[um]', misbound as the general title followed by the portrait of Hugo de Loubenx, and other preliminary plates bound out of order. Front pastedown inscribed in pencil with the price £1:10--, scored out.

Binding C17th? mottled calf boards, rebacked and repaired in C19th calf with gilt double-ruled spine and brown spine-label lettered 'Effigies Magistrator Hospitalis', marbled fore-edges.
