Edouardi Kellæi Angli Tractatus duo egregii, de lapide philosophorum, una cum theatro astronomiæ terrestri, cum figuris, in gratiam filiorum Hermetis nunc primum in lucem editi, curante J.L.M.C.

'J[ohanne] L[ange] M[edicinae] C[andidato]' = Johann Lange. Edward Kelly [Kelly] was an alchemist and collaborator of John Dee, acting as a medium in his séances as described in A true & faithful relation of what passed for many yeers between Dr. John Dee ... and some spirits, 1659, (q.v.). The present work was dedicated to Emperor Rudolph II from prison in Prague, where Kelley had been placed on a charge of duelling, and possibly also to prevent him from leaving with his supposed secrets, dying there in 1595. (ODNB).
Binding C17th mottled sheep, blind double-ruled borders, rebacked, C19th gilt double-ruled spine, dark red spine-label.
