A second edition also appeared in 1805. The author, a portrait painter, was Soane's friend at the Royal Academy, of which he was to be President from 1830 to 1850.

Copy Notes Wanting a half-title? Bound (1) with An authentic narrative of Mr. Kemble's retirement, 1817 (q.v.).

Binding C19th half calf, marbled-paper boards, gilt double-rule spine, black spine-label lettered 'Rhymes Of/ Art/ Kembles/ Retirement', later numbered '30' in a series of pamphlet volumes.
