The title is taken from the printed-paper wrapper; the imprint is from the plates. Although the suite of plans was issued to accompany Hindoo excavations (q.v.), the sixth series of Thomas Daniell's Oriental scenery which commenced publication in 1795 (q.v.), it is rarely found with sets of the first edition of the views. A copy of the Plans in similar printed-paper wrappers is in the National Library of Wales without the set of views. See notes to BAL, Early printed books, no. 804.

Copy Notes A copy of a printed prospectus dated 1802 and advertising the first three series of Oriental scenery in the Soane archive (q.v., Spiers Box 'Book purchases through personal friends') is inscribed in ink Mr: Daniell has likewise published twenty four Views of Hindoo Excavations ... the same size and price as the above - with eight plates of Plans inclusive, .... This is accompanied by an invoice from Daniell dated 9 October 1805 in which the eight plates of plans are included with the set of Hindoo excavations at no extra charge.
