Title from inscription on front free-endpaper. Seven undated, unnumbered engravings depicting Egyptian mummies, urns, statues and wooden figures in English collections, inscribed to the President and Fellows of the Royal Society. Four of the plates are signed 'A.G. delin.' or 'A. Gordon delin.', probably the draughtsman Alexander Gordon (1692?--1754?). The objects represented include a mummy coffin in the collection of William Lethieullier (1701--1756), an Egyptologist who bequeathed mummies to the British Museum, and a mummy and coffin in the collection of Dr. Mead, i.e. the physician and collector Richard Mead (1673--1754), suggesting the plates were prepared before 1754.
