Verso blank. Drop-head title. The price to subscribers was twelve shillings each number, the first to be paid for at the time of subscribing. The work was intended chiefly for the use of Mrs Wheatley's drawing pupils 'and for the Portefeuille of others, who are fond of Drawing, or of decorating ...'. Subscriptions were received by the artist and by Mr. Newman, No. 24, Soho-Square. The artist was the widow of the artist Francis Wheatley R.A. (1747--1801) who was befriended by Mrs Soane; in 1807 she married the actor and painter Alexander Pope (1763--1835). No copy of the engravings is now in Soane's library, nor has any copy of such a work been traced.
Copy Notes Enclosed in a letter to Soane dated only Friday and signed C.M.W. thanking him for his feeling Note, annotated by Soane May 29th: 1807 / In answer to my letter / Enclosing a draft for / £7:4:0 for 12 Numbers of an intended publication.
