First edition also 1823. W.B. Gurney was a notable figure of the Bible Translation Society and an exponent of the shorthand system of brachygraphy. James William Freshfield, as solicitor to the Bank of England, at one time occupied one of the houses in Princes Street built by Soane. See A.T. Bolton, The portrait of Sir John Soane, R.A.
