Seller was an instrument-maker and chart and map seller, and a key figure in establishing a trade in London-printed charts rather than Dutch. This popular textbook was first published in 1669 and continued to be printed until 1739. The additional etched title-page is printed on the verso of the half-title. ESTC n12280.

Soan[e] / 1767 / London, the 'J' illustrated with a face; John Soan[e] / Ætatis suæ 13¾ / Years, &c, 1767. The final 'e' in all cases added after 1783. Some earlier MS. annotations. Inscriptions in ink on front pastedown: 2/6 second hand with flourishes; in a different hand 5/0 No[vels?]. Three of the diagrams on pl. V are coloured in yellow.
