Edited by C. M. de Villemarest and first published in 1829, this is one of the cardinal sources for Napoleonic historiography, frequently republished and translated. This is the third edition of volumes I and II only, which were previously reprinted in 1829, with volumes III--X being of the first edition and dated 1829. Volumes II--X give the publisher's name as 'Ladvocat'. The half-title versos of vols I--II have the additional statement 'Se trouve également Chez Barba Fils, ...'; those in vols III--X, '... Chez Dufey, Libraire, ...'. Volume II includes a description of the Bibliothèque du Camp (Napoleon's field library), pp. 49--52. Volume VII includes four pages of publisher's advertisements following the title-page. At head of half-titles: 'Mémoires Contemporains'.
