Printer from colophon: 'by William Bowyer, 1716'. Edition statement in the first volume only. Originally published in octavo (two parts in three volumes), 1716--1718. Dedicated to the Right Honourable Daniel, Earl of Nottingham. Running title: 'Connection of the History of the Old and New Testament'. The engraved frontispiece portrait of the authoe is by George Vertue after E. Seeman junior; the maps are not signed. With final chronological tables in each volume. ESTC t88593 (pt I), t88589 (pt II).

Copy Notes Inscribed in ink on the front free-endpapers to both volumes: J. Jortin, probably the ecclesiastical historian and literary critic John Jortin (1698--1770), with library shelfmarks in form B.5. and B.6.. Also possibly in the same hand in part I, an index to maps and plates. Bought from Thomas Boone for 12s., 17 November 1812. (Archives 16/12/45). With Boone's bookseller's codes and inscriptions in pencil on part I front free-endpaper Plates & Maps - 2 vols. =12s=.

Binding 18th century sprinkled calf with blind-tooled borders, gilt-ruled spine with blind-tooled lozenges in the compartments, brown and black spine-labels.
