[53] Preliminary design for the ceiling for the gallery, 1763, part as executed
Aspect
Plan of a long, thin, rectangular ceiling with a central rectangular recess, with alternate designs shown at each end. On the left the ceiling is ornamented with medallions encircled by enclosed rosettes within wreaths, and with a ground ornamented with arabesques. On the right the ceiling is ornamented with large medallions surmounted by square, octagonal and polygonal compartments ornamented with rosettes, fans and arabesques
