Variant design and finished drawing for the scagliola floor in the ante room, c1761-62, Adam volume 18/60 as executed (2)
Notes
The ante room pavement is executed in scagliola, to the design shown in Adam volume 18/60. It is one of many examples in Adam's work where the floor (pavement or carpet) correlated with his ceiling design. The colours used in this pavement are very rich, and darker than is typical of Adam.
There is an engraving of this pavement in volume II of The works in architecture of Robert and James Adam.
