Notes
This design comprises a table to support a casket or box. Both the purpose of the object, and both of its alternate Etruscan colour schemes suggest that it was intended for the octagonal room - Keate's museum - at the rear of his house. It was most likely intended for the dislay of Keate's coins or shells.
The table was executed in accordance with Adam's design, and was sold at auction following Keate's death alongside his other effects. The table survives within a private American collection.
