Purpose

Design for a ceiling for a first storey room in an unknown house, 1774, as executed at an unknown house (1)

Notes

This ceiling was executed in accordance with Adam’s design, and survived to be photographed by the LCC in 1906, but the location of the executed ceiling is unclear. The LCC photograph is labelled as '1st Floor, Mr Bentley’s Room, 12 John Street, 20 November 1906', but it was later catalogued by the London Metropolitan Archives as 7-12 John Street, and the accuracy of these contradictory labels is not known.
