Design for the chimneypiece for the front parlour, c1769-70, as executed (1)
Notes
The front parlour would have been the front room on the ground storey of the house.
This chimneypiece was executed in accordance with Adam’s design, and survived to be photographed by the LCC in 1906.
This design is a duplicate of that designed by Adam in 1766 for the library at Osterley (Adam volume 22/209). The Osterley design is inscribed in pencil with the words, 1st House / [cropped]Y River front parlour, which corresponds with the intended location of this design.
This chimneypiece was executed in accordance with Adam’s design, and survived to be photographed by the LCC in 1906.
