Purpose
Preliminary design and finished drawing for a ceiling for the first drawing room, 1771, as executed (2)
Notes
The first drawing room is located at the front of the house, behind the two eastern bays, on the first floor. During the nineteenth century it was used as a ball room.
Adam's ceiling was executed in accordance with Adam volume 13/55. Despite considerable damage in the 1990s owing to water ingress, the ceiling survives in situ and has since been restored (see scheme notes).
