Purpose

[11] Design for a ceiling for the staircase, 1772, as executed with minor alterations

Aspect

Plan of a square ceiling, with a central patera, enclosed within a fan of petals, and circular frames, one ornamented with Vitruvian scroll, and this is encircled by double calyx, and a shaped octagonal frame, with an apron of festoons supporting a medallion in each corner
