Preliminary design and design for the great dining room chimneypiece, March 1774; it is not known if this design was executed (2)
Notes
The preliminary design for this chimneypiece (Adam volume 23/197) is inscribed as being for the first drawing room. This is either a mistake, or the intended location of the chimneypiece was altered during the course of its design history.
As the house was demolished in 1862, and this chimneypiece was not illustrated in The works in architecture of Robert and James Adam, it is not known if the great dining room chimneypiece was executed in accordance with Adam's extant design.
