Preliminary design and design for the staircase lantern, September 1774; it is not known if this design was executed (2)
Notes
The staircase was located at the centre of the house, between the hall, eating parlour and great dining room on the ground floor, and the ante room, the second drawing room and the great drawing room on the first floor. A plan of the house can be found in the second volume of The works in architecture of Robert and James Adam (part 1, plate 1).
As this lantern does not survive, and it was not illustrated in the Works, it is not known if the staircase lantern was executed in accordance with Adam's extant design.
