Purpose
Preliminary design and finished drawing for the bedchamber bed, 1774; it is not known if this design was executed (2)
Notes
As this unusual design for a twin bed was not illustrated in The works in architecture of Robert and James Adam, and the furniture does not survive, it it not known if it was executed in accordance with Adam's extant design.
Harris has suggested that such a piece of furniture would not have been for everyday use, but rather for show, when the house was open to guests.
