Purpose
Record drawing for the great drawing room grate, January 1775; it is not known if this design was executed (1)
Notes
As the house was demolished in 1862, and this feature is not illustrated in The works in architecture of Robert and James Adam, it is not known if the great drawing room grate was executed in accordance with Adam's extant design.
Harris has suggested that the grate was probably executed, and in gold-coloured paktong (similar to that in the drawing room at Osterley), but it does not survive, and there is no firm evidence for this.
