Purpose
Design for a chimneypiece for Baron Grant's dressing room, 1771, probably as executed (1)
Notes
The dressing room was located on the parlour (ground) storey, in the north-east corner of the house facing the garden.
All of Adam's interior decorative schemes for 20 Soho Square are thought to have been executed, but this is speculative as it was largely redecorated during the nineteenth century. It is known that Adam's ceiling design for this room was executed although the drawings are now lost, as the inset paintings survive, having been removed in 1906 (see scheme notes).
