Preliminary designs for alternative carved frames, c1767-83 (3)
Notes
These frame designs were associated with Kenwood by Arthur Bolton, possibly as they resemble frames which were made for Kenwood in 1815, but there is no further evidence to confirm or deny this, and it is not known if they were Kenwood or not. The designs are relatively Baroque in style, more ostentatious than Mansfield would generally have allowed, and do not suit Adam's interiors at Kenwood. As such it is unlikely that they were executed or even intended for Kenwood.
