Rough details for Drawing room frieze 1'..6 wide with circular rinceau motif enclosing a quartrefoil rosette; rough plan for the ceiling having six- and eight-sided panels and with detail of deep redInscribed: as above, frieze labelled Corinthian without the Corona / Montfau. Vol 5 part 1 page 76, Base & Cirbase (surbase) same as Eating Room, plan labelled Ornaments / to Centre (?) portion and dimensions givenPen, pencilThe reference is to Bernard de Montfaucon, L'Antiquité expliquée et représentée en figure, Paris, 1719-24, 15 volumes. A copy of this work is in Soane's library (date of purchase not known). Volume 5, part 1 (Les funerailles & les tombeaus & les mausolees), p.76 has an accompanying plate 50 that shows a cinerary urn decorated with rinceau and cinquefoil rosettes.
