Notes
This is a perspective view of buildings in the antique style that characterises the drawings found in Adam volume 55. In its depiction of an imaginery monumental building, it can be compared with Adam vol.56/70, one of the few smaller compositions in this volume not of ruins, and also the drawing in Sir John Soane Museum, SM Drawer 48/6/4f. There is a copy of this drawing by C J Richardson (1806-1871) in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London (P&D 93.G.8/47).
