Notes
The drawing of an intact, rather than a ruined, palace façade is rare in this set of capricci. It can be compared with a similar composition in Adam vol.56/134. There is a copy of this drawing by C J Richardson (1806-1871) in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London (P&D 93.G.8/70).
