Preliminary design for a ceiling for the second scheme for the eating parlour (later the ball room), 1775, executed with minor alterations (1)
Notes
Adam's second scheme for the eating parlour was made in 1775, and made use of a cheaper, compartmental coved ceiling.
The ceiling was executed with minor alterations to Adam's drawing, including additional narrow strips of decoration in the cove. The ceiling survives in situ, and was restored by the WMF. See scheme notes.
Within the drawings collection of the Yale Center for British Art at New Haven there is adesign drawing as Adam volume 12/103, dated 1776.
