Purpose
[9] Alternative design for a ceiling for the saloon, 1771
Aspect
Plan of a square coved ceiling, with a rectangular recess on one side. There is a square central flat ornamented with a medallion, enclosed within an octagonal frame, and a lozenge-shaped frame ornamented with crockets, and with fans in the corners. This is encircled by ornamentation as in Adam volume 12/87, and the cove is ornamented as in Adam volume 12/87, but between the drops there are winged female figures holding a festoon
