Design for a ceiling for the gallery or library, 1771, unexecuted (1)
Notes
This room is alternately described as a gallery and a library in Adam volume 12/82 and 50/52. The shape and scale of the room suggests that it spanned a wing at the rear of the house. Moreover, observation of French sash doors in the wall elevation for the room (Adam volume 12/82) shows that the room was located on the ground storey.
None of Adam's designs for Colebrooke are known to have been completed owing to his financial difficulties. See scheme notes.
