Purpose
Record drawing for a ceiling for the book room, 1771, unexecuted (1)
Notes
The shape and scale of the book room ceiling suggests that it was positioned in the central portion of the house. The coved ceiling corresponds with that in the first-floor saloon at the rear of the house (Adam volumes 12/86 and 12/87), and, therefore, it is suggested here that the book room was located at the front of the first floor, directly above the front parlour.
None of Adam's designs for Colebrooke are known to have been completed owing to his financial difficulties. See scheme notes.
