Notes
Drawing 14 is an unexecuted design for the ceiling of the State Dining Room. Elements of this design are to be found in the executed ceiling, however, including the lush central rosette and the ball moulding that defines the 'arms' of the star. In the finished version of the ceiling the 'arms' are decorated with acanthus leaves, honeysuckle and Greek fret, and the spaces between the them are filled with triangular and diamond-shaped panels.
