Notes
This drawing is similar in style and size to the group found in Adam vol.57/81-83 and 57/126, attributed to Charles-Louis Clérisseau. The view is presumably one of the fortified bridges outside Rome but on the Tiber, such as the Ponte Salario that was rebuilt in 1867, or Nomentano that was destroyed in 1829 (see R. Krautheimer, Rome, Profile of a City, 312-1308, Princeton, 1980, p.63). There is a similar view of a fortified bridge in Adam vol.57/61, attributed to Robert Adam. The two top and lower left corners have been torn off, suggesting this drawing has been laid into a previous album.
