Purpose
Finished drawing for a ceiling for the ante room, 1771, as executed (1)
Notes
The ante room is located at the front of the house, behind the two western bays, on the first floor. It is adjacent to the first drawing room, and directly above the entrance hall. During the nineteenth century it was used as a boudoir.
Adam's ceiling was executed in accordance with Adam's drawing. Despite considerable damage in the 1990s owing to water ingress, the ceiling survives in situ and has since been restored (see scheme notes).
