Purpose
Finished drawing for a ceiling for the eating room, 1771, as executed or executed with minor alterations (1)
Notes
The eating room is located at the front of the house, behind the two eastern bays, on the ground. it is adjacent to the entrance hall, and immediately beneath the first drawing room.
Despite considerable damage in the 1990s owing to water ingress, the ceiling survives in situ and has since been restored (see scheme notes). The surviving ceiling, however, does not include the border. There is some uncertainty as to whether this element was omitted in execution, or was lost during the nineteenth century.
