Notes
The design is not the same as that shown in the library elevations in Adam volume 50/67, where the chimneypiece is ornamented identically to the doors, with corbels atop the stiles and a frieze of festoons and rosettes. In the drawing room Adam had planned a unified scheme for chimneypieces and doorframes which had been rendered impossible by the existing chimneypiece, so a unified scheme for the library would possibly have drawn attention to the disunity in the other.
