Purpose
Preliminary designs, a design, and a finished drawing (possibly made for publication) for a rectangular house, 1771, unexecuted (5)
Notes
This is Robert Adam's fourth and final scheme for the house. None of Adam's designs for Lowther Hall or its estate buildings was executed.
The use of crenellated turrets of varying shapes is typical of Adam's mature castle-style designs, and was replicated in his designs for Dalquharran, Oxenfoord, and Culzean.
