Purpose
Preliminary design, design and finished drawing for a dairy, c1767, unexecuted (3)
Notes
None of Adam's designs for Lowther Hall or its estate buildings were executed.
The designs for the dairy were made as soon as Adam turned his attention to Lowther Hall, and are reminiscent of his dairy design for Fennells Place (SM Adam volume 42/101), which is roughly contemporary, albeit with only one outbuilding to the rear, and the addition of a rear colonnade to the central block.
