[6] Preliminary designs for a funerary monument, 1762, unexecuted
Aspect
Rough elevations of four alternative designs for a funerary monument. The first design, in the top left-hand corner, is a wall-mounted monument, composed of a frame ornamented with fluting and rosettes, with an apron of volutes and a rectangular inscription panel, containing a bust on a socle, and surmounted by a pediment with anthemia acroteria The second design, in the top right-hand corner, is a wall-mounted monument, composed of a sarcophagus, supported by consoles, and ornamented with volutes, and a rectangular figurative panel, supporting a bust on a socle, in front of a rectangular figurative panel, surmounted by a shell. The third design, in the bottom right-hand corner, is freestanding, and composed of a bust on a socle, supported by a pediment. And the forth design, in the bottom right-hand corner, is a wall-mounted monument, composed of a sarcophagus, supported by consoles, and containing a roundel within a rectangular frame on the principal front, and a lyre on the side, and supporting a bust on a socle, and set against an oval panel
