Notes
This small drawing, together with Adam vol.57/45 and 57/45, are on the same album leaf as vol.57/43 and on account of their subject-matter may be part of the drawings that form the 'Voyage de Naples' set. All three depict antique artefacts that may well have been seen by Robert Adam at Herculaneum or elsewhere around Naples in 1755. In fact, this drawing may be the feet of one of the marble tables that Adam referred to (see J. Fleming, Robert Adam and his Circle, London 1962, p.155).There is a drawing of a similar table from the Capitoline Museum in Adam vol.26/62.
