The picturesque quality of this fountain is presumably what caught Robert Adam's eye, for it is neither antique nor particularly remarkable; it may have appealed to him in the same way as the house depicted in Adam vol.57/1 had done. The arrangement of drawings in this volume would suggest that this fountain was somewhere in the town of Pozzuoli.
