Purpose
[10] Finished drawing for a ceiling for the back drawing room, 1769
Aspect
Plan of a rectangular ceiling with a central elliptical compartment composed of guilloche of reed and ribbon, enclosing an elliptical medallion, and four circular medallions. The central elliptical medallion is enclosed within cable moulding, a fan ornamented with masks, and Vitruvian scroll. Outside the guilloche of reed and ribbon are lozenges containing rosettes and calyx, festoons, and peltoid shields ornamented with masks, laurel leaves and calyx, and with bordering compartments containing arabesques and rosettes
