[36] Finished drawing for a ceiling, c1765-66, unexecuted

Aspect

(36) Rectangular plan showing half of a square, compartmental ceiling, with elliptical, circular and octagonal figurative medallions, and rectangular tablets containing putti, figures, a swan, and a ground ornamented with a patera encircled by a band of putti riding half griffons, a wreath, rosettes, and bands of dentils, fret and cable moulding. Outer compartments contain medallions, tablets, figures, fauns, half figures, urns, birds, ribbons, arabesques, calyx, anthemia, and all enclosed by a band containing medallions and panels of putti, some riding half centaurs, half lions, half horses, half goats, half bulls, and dolphins, and with a border of small tablets, figures with spears, seated figures, military trophies, birds, calyx, terms and griffons
