Purpose
[1] Preliminary design for the first scheme for the mausoleum, 1761, unexecuted
Aspect
Rough part plan and elevation of a building with a narrow, rectangular vestibule of one storey and seven bays. This is articulated by Doric columns, with a central door, flanked by two bays containing niches. With figurative sculptures on pedestals in the projecting end bays, which are surmounted by sarcophagi. Behind the vestibule is a two-storey, circular drum and dome, containing three windows. There are also details of the frieze and the sarcophagi in the top right-hand corner
