Purpose

[4] Finished drawing for a greenhouse, 1759, unexecuted

Aspect

Plan with a three-bay central front - each bay being tripartite and divided by columns, and with a ten step stylobate, with three-bay sides of one window and two blind windows each, and a three-bay rear. The interior space is divided into two rooms. There are pencil-drawn annotations dividing the principal interior space into three, with doors between each room, and with a chimneypiece in the central space denoting domestic use: perhaps a tea room for admiring the plants

Plan of the Green house for Sr Nathl Curson at Kedleston / now Lord Scarsdale (in the hand of William Adam) / 48 (in pencil in a modern curatorial hand) and some dimensions given (verso) 13 (in pencil)

Pen, pencil and wash within a single ruled border on laid paper (607 x 512)

Hand

Adam office hand, possibly Agostino Brunias or Laurent-Benoît Dewez, with additions to the title inscription in an office hand and a number inscribed in pencil in an unknown modern curatorial hand

VDL and fleur-de-lis within crowned cartouche
