Purpose

Finished drawing for a chapel, 1759-62 (1)

Notes

Within this design the spiral staircases appear to lead to a gallery, or an organ. Bolton suggests that this design for a chapel dates from Adam's earliest involvement at Harewood, when he was making alterations to Carr's designs, and that the chapel would have been located in the present gallery on the west front of the house.
