Purpose

Preliminary design of a chimneypiece and overmantel mirror frame, 1783, possibly executed (1)

Notes

Mrs Cornwall lived at number 66 Portland Place, and it is possible that the Adams had something to do with fitting up the interior of her house as they had laid out the whole street during the 1770s.

It is not known if this design for a chimneypiece and overmantel mirror frame were executed, or if other designs were made for the interior of Mrs Cornwall's house, as it does not survive.
