Purpose
Finished drawing for the saloon (now the library), c1767 (1)
Notes
The saloon is in the centre of the south front of the house, between the state dressing room and the 1st drawing room. In the 1840s Barry converted this room into a library, lining the walls and apses with bookcases, although Adam's apses (minus their screens of columns), ceiling, chimneypiece and overmantel survive.
