[18] Design for an alternative gateway, unexecuted, c1764
Aspect
Plan and elevation of a four-room enfilade either side of a carriage arch, in a one-storey building, with a three-bay central block, articulated by engaged Doric columns and pediments, with a rusticated central bay, containing a segmental arched doorway, flanked by bays containing rectangular windows ornamented with quoins, and the whole is ornamented with a Doric frieze, and surmounted by a military trophy. The central block is flanked on either side by a three-bay link, articulated by Doric pilasters, with doors and windows within relieving arches, and containing two rooms, and beyond the links are three-bay, domed and pedimented pavilions, with paired Doric pilasters at each end, with a niche in each bay, and containing a circular room with four apses
